AILI:您在施华洛世奇从事高管多年,就您而言,市场对品牌的态度有何变化,施华洛世奇又针对市场的变动做出过哪些重大改革?

Having been working as an executive at Swarovski for years, you have seen the market attitude toward the brand go through changes; what market changes has Swarovski been going through?

Robert Buchbauer: There has been a major and significant change not only in the jewelry market, but also in the use and perception of jewelry from end consumers. Jewelry has gradually become more present in everyday life, with some brands coming in to fill the gap between fine jewelry, more reserved to some special occasions and not accessible to everyone, and entry price fast-track brands; Swarovski is exactly in this niche of expert fashion jewelry which never compromises with quality, offering trendy and contemporary design through a unique brand signature.

What is the most unique feature of Swarovski in terms of design and innovation?

Robert Buchbauer: First of all, our core material makes us truly distinctive. Beyond crystal, Swarovski designs are infused with a touch of sparkle, be it subtle or bold depending on the piece. Another major characteristic is the broadness of our collections, which allows each and every woman to explore her different facets of personality and style to find the right fashion accessory for any occasion - day or night, casual or more fashionable.

Swarovski is very popular in China. What do you think the reason for its success is?

Robert Buchbauer: It is a great pleasure to know that. China is a very important market for us, and for that very reason we design exclusive lines of jewelry and watches each season. Swarovski stands for a long heritage of craftsmanship, know-how, innovation and uncompromised quality. I think consumer feel reassured by a brand that is synonymous with such tradition of expertise and nurtured heritage. In addition to superior quality, Swarovski has a very recognizable aesthetic and a clear brand signature that are reflected through a wide range of products, allowing each consumer to find the right piece – from the classic to the more fashion-oriented ones.   我们非常高兴听到施华洛世奇在中国受欢迎的消息,因为中国对我们来说是一个非常重要的市场,也因为这样我们在每一季都设计中国独有的珠宝和腕表。施华洛世奇代表着传统工艺,技术,创新和不为成本妥协的质量。我认为它是让消费者感到放心品牌,是具备专业知识和传统文化沉淀的。除了优质,施华洛世奇有一个非常知名的审美界定和一个清晰的品牌特征,它通过一个广泛的产品线,让每个消费者找到适合自己的配饰,从经典高贵的到更为时髦前卫的。

Swarovski's new products are always full of innovation and new ideas; what surprises will the brand bring us in 2015?   Robert Buchbauer: In January, we launched a collection of activity tracking jewelry at CES Las Vegas, entering an unexplored segment in the wearable technology market. Until now, products in this category were sports and male-driven, whereas we developed a collection that combines function and style. We have overcome many technical challenges to ensure great functions such as measuring steps, calories, distance, sleep and more. In addition, we internally developed a solar-powered crystal to power the devices, so there is no need to charge or use any battery - which truly is a major step forward in terms of innovation. China belongs to the 3 launch markets we have selected for this concept, and I believe it will be very successful.   今年1月,我们在拉斯维加斯的CES活动推出了一个新的系列,可穿戴技术市场进入一个未知的领域。直到现在,这一类产品是体育和男性化,而我们开发了一个集合,它结合了功能和风格。我们克服了许多技术挑战,确保重大的功能,如测量步骤,卡路里,距离,睡眠和更多。此外,我们内部开发了太阳能晶体动力设备, 所以没有需要充电或使用任何电池——真正的创新是向前迈出的重要一步。中国属于第3个推出的市场,我们已经选择了这个概念,我相信这将是非常成功的。

Swarovski watches have debuted not long ago; in your point of view, what is their most important selling point- What is their strategy for the future?   Robert Buchbauer: While all our watches are Swiss-made and are testament to our commitment to quality, we definitely approach watchmaking from a fashion and leisure angle, as we believe this is what women are looking for when they choose a Swarovski watch.
